On Thursday a group of 8 of us went canoeing on the San Marcos River

Barb and Mary Ann have a birth center named "Our Lady of Guadalupe" so had to have this photo! [D]

Unfortunately, beside the side were several fire ant nests . . . . [D]

Our able guide hauled the 4 canoes to the river. . . [D]

. . . and gave us a full lesson in canoeing, including what to do in the case of an "unplanned wet exit" (ie, falling out of the boat!) [D]

Then we were off, under the bridge, and up the river. [D]

There weren't many sand bars, so snack time was in the middle of the lake with the boats pulled together. [D]

And, after swimming, eating, laughing, the bridge was once again in sight. We all made it without getting to try out our instructions on what to do in the event of an "unplanned wet exit." [D]
