Both Bolivar and Harrisonville Lost

I went to the Bolivar/Webb City quarterfinal football game this afternoon. It was a pretty good game, but Bolivar lost 20-42. I didn’t really feel that they were horribly outmatched, but they just couldn’t get their offense working good enough to compete.

Harrisonville lost with an even larger margin of 41-0 against Kearney.

The semi-final game between Webb City and Kearney next weekend should be a barn-burner!

Bolivar and Harrisonville both Won Last Night!

Bolivar and Harrisonville are closing in on each other in the Missouri High School Football playoffs! Bolivar faces Champion Webb City on Saturday. Webb City is undefeated in over 20 games, but they lost two of their best running backs and another player a week and a half ago (suspension for some sort of activity which was a no-no!). We have our fingers crossed this will give Bolivar (who is having a great year at 11-1) the edge they need to be able to beat them!!

Harrisonville goes up against Kearney on Saturday, and that should be a great game also.

If (and it’s a very big “if!”) Bolivar beats Webb City and Harrisonville beats Kearney (more likely to happen), Bolivar will face Harrisonville at Harrisonville in the semi-finals! We might have to drive up for that one if it happens; though it will be hard to know who to cheer for since Garland’s no longer playing for Harrisonville!

Here’s the bracket so you can follow along:

Harrisonville Football Update

Well, Harrisonville lost the big first game of the year against the 2008 State Championship Webb City Cardinals 33-7. However, we were very proud of Garland’s part as lineman in the one series resulting in a touchdown!

Look at the way Garland’s (#58) following the runner to keep the defenders off him. That turned out to be a big run for Harrisonville!

Looks like Garland’s (#58) keeping the defender off the runner really well!

Garland’s JV Football Game

Richard and I attended Garland’s last JV football game this year at Warrensburg tonight. Richard used to live in Warrensburg and had often talked about the great BBQ place there, so we had dinner there (and it’s still as good as it was!) before the game.

Garland is #58, getting set on the offensive line opposite.

Harrisonville Wins a Key Game!

Harrisonville beat the Oak Grove Panthers  36-20 tonight! Oak Grove had been first in their conference, but now Harrisonville is on top for the first time this year!

Our First Football Game

We got to attend our first Harrisonville football game tonight! Here’s Garland (#58) running in the warm-up.

Harrisonville Won their Second Game!

Harrisonville beat the Hannibal Pirates (yes, they drove all the way to the Mississippi River to play football!) 31-13. Their offense was much more together, and their defense continues to play exceptional football.

Harrisonville Lost

It had to happen sometime, and it happened tonight. After a string of 41 wins in a row including 3 state championships, Harrisonville lost to Web City tonight 27-21. Richard and I found an internet radio station which carries the games and so got to hear it. They kept up through the last when they stripped the ball from Web City with just under a minute left to go. We thought maybe they’d pull it out, but then their new first-string quarterback threw an interception, and the game was over.

The radio broadcasters said it was the best game either of them had ever seen; so I think that’s high praise!

However, it’s probably the best thing that could happen, getting that first loss out of the way early and in a non-conference game. Now they and their new coach can relax and get back to the basics.

Garland’s New Letterman Jacket

Garland got his new letterman jacket and showed it off this weekend.
