Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.

Happy Halloween!

Here’s some photos from Jessica’s camera of Halloween trick-or-treating events:

Getting candy from Aunt Laura!

“My what a white beard you have uncle Mark!”

And, of course, have to have a photo with the Sonic Hot Dog! Sonic has played a large part in the lives of my kids!

The princess!

You know you are too old to Trick or Treat when:

10. You get winded from knocking on the door.

9. You have to have another kid chew the candy for you.

8. You ask for high fiber candy only.

7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall over.

6. People say: “Great Boris Karloff Mask,” and you’re not wearing a mask.

5. When the door opens you yell, “Trick or ….” and can’t remember the rest.

4. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders.

3. You have to carefully choose a costume that won’t dislodge your hairpiece.

2. You’re the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker.

And the number one reason Seniors should not go Trick Or Treating…

1. You keep having to go home to pee.

From the Opening Day Hunt

Here’s the hunting party Saturday with the kill spread out on the tailgate! Richard’s taking the photo, and his dog, Brutus, is penned up already.

Here’s photos from the drive (70 mph speed photos!) after the hunt Saturday of Iowa farmland.

Family Dinner

Then we gathered at Jessica’s for an impromptu dinner (called out for pizza) and visiting. Here’s my kids, aren’t they great?

Last Weekend of Catch and Eat Fishing

Jennifer and I enjoyed an awesome day fishing at Bennett Spring today! The weather was perfect, in the mid-70s, the skies were clear, the leaves were lovely shades, the water was clear blue, there weren’t too many people, and we even caught some fish!

Jennifer took some good photos of me fishing!

I got two fish.

And Jenny caught her first ever trout! Yeh Jenny!

Bagged Out!

Richard called from Iowa this afternoon, and he shot his limit (3 pheasant) today! He said it’s the first time he’s bagged out on opening day in a long time! That’s my man!

St. Louis Cardinals Win!

Richard and I had been watching and cheering on the Cardinals in post-season play (they weren’t worth watching in season play!) and were rewarded with a big win tonight! They set a World Series record for the fewest regular-season victories by a champion, but they won enough to get into the play-offs! From there they beat their way to the top, finally winning the World Series in 5 games over a team (Detroit Tigers) which whipped their previous post-season opponents soundly and was tagged to easily beat the Cardinals in the World Series. Here’s to the smart guys who predict these things!

On my Own

Well, I’m on my own for the opening weekend of pheasant and quail season in Iowa. Richard’s all packed up and at work for a few hours before heading north to be all ready to HUNT tomorrow morning.

Click for Atlantic, Iowa Forecast

Here’s the weather where he’s hunting. Looks like it’s going to be pretty nice. At least there’s no forecast for snow or freezing rain!

I was hoping to go fishing this morning with Jennifer, but it’s raining and rather cold, so we’ve set that off until Sunday, which is forecast to be pretty nice here. It’s the last weekend of catch and keep at Bennett Springs, so we want to try and take advantage of that. So, I guess I’ll just work today!

It’s Fall!

Jenny's BBQ

Jenny had a great BBQ this afternoon for friends and family!

Curtis, Jenny and Richie enjoying the BBQ!

We got to meet Richie’s daughter and mother.

Just part of the great spread of food before us!

Justin had worked all morning at Sandy’s and was heading to Sonic for the night shift. What a guy! At least it keeps him out of trouble!
