Here’s Bryce holding a fish. The photo was sent via cell phone from Andy to Jessica and then from Jessica to me by cell phone to email.
It just doesn’t get much better than fishing with Dad! |

I’ve set up a new photoblog and have just a few photos on it to get started. Click here for photos I took on my walk in the flooded pastures this morning!

Here’s a shot of the radar this morning at 7:13. Our house is near the red star.
Notice that the entire area is in a flash flood warning with some severe thunderstorm warnings tossed in for good measure. And, they are calling for possibly even more severe weather in the form of tornadoes later today. The ground is so totally soaked that literally no more water can go into it. Almost everything is running off into streams, roads, etc. It’s a mess. I try and remember two years ago when we were in the third year of a really nasty drought and we would have given anything for rain like this . . . .
We are very lucky (good planning on Richard’s part when he bought this farm) that our house is well up the hill from any flooding. We do have a stream running through the farm, but our water gaps are well designed and have made it through all the previous flooding well. And, we do know how to fix fence if they don’t hold. The cows are well up the hill and will make it through just fine if they aren’t hit by lightening!
Oh, and then we heard the real kicker this morning . . . there’s a chance of SNOW Friday night/Saturday morning!!!!

Now that all the weather experts have visited the sites, here’s the report on the tornados Monday. You can see we were pretty darned close! When the warning sirens in Morrisville (SE of our farm) came on, we started making plans about where to go and carefully watched the SW skyline. Luckily, the worst passed us by, and we just got 2 inches of rain and a lot of wind out of the deal.

When I dropped Richard off at work, the flock of turkeys was in their usual place just across the road. I started taking pictures from far away in case they flew, but they let me get pretty close before they eased off into the brush. It was a nice morning to photograph with the sun at a good angle to catch their lovely feathers. So far, the males seem more interested in showing the other males that they are best, and they largely seem to be ignoring the females. That will all change soon!
