Random Thought

It is a great importance to set a resolution, not to be shaken, never to tell an untruth. There is no vice so mean, so pitiful, so contemptible and he who permits himself to tell a lie once, finds it much easier to do it a second and third time, till at length it becomes habitual, he tells lies without attending to it, and truths without the world's believing him. This falsehood of the tongue leads to that of the heart, and in time depraves all it's good dispositions.

Phoebe Nest

A phoebe nests on the porch every year, and I’m going to try and photograph her progress this year. She’s got four eggs.

Free Air Show!

Every once in a while we get a free “air show” when Richard’s neighbor flies out to check his cattle. After he gets the cattle checked, he practices his stunts!

Here he’s flying straight up before going straight down! Wheeeeee!

More on the New Calves

Here’s the new calves out on pasture, again with just a single strand hot wire nicely holding them.

Overnight with Bryce

We got to keep Bryce at the farm for his first "overnight" with Grandma and Grandpa. Here the boys are waiting for the brush fire to burn down so we could cook our hot dogs! Oh, we are also working on potty training too!

Dinner with Paul & Camille

We took Richard’s brother Paul and wife Camille out for dinner tonight for their birthdays!

New Calves

We bought these calves at the auction four days ago, and they are quietly grazing the yard grass with just one electric polywire around them.

The All Clear Sounded Once Again

We dodged the bullet yet again here in SW Missouri. Although they had forecast another nasty round of severe weather including large hail, damaging winds and tornadoes, SW Missouri just had one tornadic cell run through last night. We followed it’s path carefully from Kansas into Missouri because it was headed directly for our farm! However, our luck held, and it weakened in power about half a county away, and we were never under a tornado warning. Just one small tornado actually touched down with that cell, and it didn’t do any damage. Whew!

The forecast for the next few days is just rain tonight and then some nice weather. I’m ready for it!

Photo Shoot in the Park

I took the kids to the park today in my role as “Tuesday babysitter.” Of course, I took my camera!

Richard Became a Lutheran Today!

Today Richard joined the Lutheran Church!

We were going to have a BBQ out here on the farm afterwards, but it was cool and very windy. So, we decided, instead, to just have pizza at Jessica and Andy’s house!

We are ok after Tornadoes hit SW Missouri

Last night some bad tornadoes hit NE Oklahoma and SW Missouri and at least 20 people died. The tornadoes were near and south of I-44, and we are north of I-44, so we missed the tornado part and just got some heavy rain.

Here’s a good link to a page with a summary of the storm with all the technical meteorological info.

Our prayers go out to the friends and family of those who died.
