What positive, productive thing can you do, right here and now, that will drain the power from worry before it ever gets to you?

Harrisonville Lost

It had to happen sometime, and it happened tonight. After a string of 41 wins in a row including 3 state championships, Harrisonville lost to Web City tonight 27-21. Richard and I found an internet radio station which carries the games and so got to hear it. They kept up through the last when they stripped the ball from Web City with just under a minute left to go. We thought maybe they’d pull it out, but then their new first-string quarterback threw an interception, and the game was over.

The radio broadcasters said it was the best game either of them had ever seen; so I think that’s high praise!

However, it’s probably the best thing that could happen, getting that first loss out of the way early and in a non-conference game. Now they and their new coach can relax and get back to the basics.

Deture?

Got to love small towns! Here’s the situation just down the road from Jessica’s house this morning!

Luckily, I went right out and got a picture, because Jessica called later and said someone noticed the error, blacked out “DETURE” and put the correct spelling.

Hurricaine Fay Update from the Trenches

Hey Ya’ll,

Fay came back. There are alot of roads that have about 6-12 inches of rain on them, but none as bad as on the coast. Fay is hovering over us. We live in North Orlando and are getting it worse than the other part of town. This though, is definitley not a hurricane! We will keep ya’ll updated.

Delilah’s First Day of Kindergarten!

It seems like just a few days ago I was putting Jessica on the bus for her first day of kindergarten . . . and today Delilah is headed to her first day of kindergarten!

I came in to photograph this event and watch Emma and Bryce so Jessica could cry on her way home from taking Delilah to school!

Here’s the Word from Calie and Justin in Orlando . . .

“Tropical Storm” Faye has passed us, and obviously we are doing alright. We have a lot of rain (duh) but I wouldn’t have even called this thing a Tropical Storm! To us before it came it felt like we were waiting for a big snow storm because all the schools were closing down, open business were very few and far between, and the highways were empty.  We went to Wal-Mart around midnight just to go, and when we came out it was drizzlin’ but for us it was like, ok, here comes the snow!  I KNOW WE ARE DORKS!

But once this “Dangerous Storm” (news peoples’ words not mine) hit us, we were thinking, “This is it?” It was just a storm!

Grandkids Photos in the Park

When we first arrived at Dunnegan Park (in Bolivar) for the grandkid photo shoot, we saw Calie’s sister, Stephanie. So, we got a photo for Calie and Justin!

I had my camera set up on the tripod in “sport” mode which meant I could snap photos rapid fire.

Our First Anniversary!

One year ago today I married my best friend. (Click here for the photos.)
I know, that’s a little sappy and sounds like it came from a Hallmark card written by a burned out poet in a cubicle in a huge room of other card authors in their own cubicles.

But, it’s true!

The Second Annual Honeymoon Float!

Justin and Calie are in Florida, Emma was a little too young to float, and Garland had to work, so we didn’t have as many attending the Honeymoon Float this year. We’ve decided to keep this up every year, the third Sunday of the month! You’re invited next year!

Jennifer builds a great sand dam.

The kids play in the sand.

One Special Anniversary

Six years ago today a really nice (and cute!) guy called me up about maybe doing a web page for his office.

As they say, the rest is history!

Here’s our first photo together . . . I think we each have a few more gray hairs today!
