Turkey Hunting Success!

Richard got his first turkey of this spring turkey season this morning! After hunting at the cabin near Truman lake the past two weekends without success, he got this nice jake (meaning a yearling male) just a couple of miles from here.

Big Family BBQ at the Farm!

Here’s the party group!

I got to take some photos of my boy and his lovely wife.
Richard got a shot of me and my kids! Jenny was standing on a little hump, she’s not taller than Justin!

Grandkids are Over

Delilah and Bryce are staying at the farm tonight keeping me company while Richard’s hunting the elusive turkey. Here’s our group shot!

Justin’s Here for a Visit!

Here’s my kids: Jessica, Justin, and Jennifer!
Justin’s back for a short visit!
I’ll have more photos Sunday when we have a family BBQ at the farm!

Opening Day!

Yes, once again it’s opening day of spring turkey season, and Richard is crouching in the woods imitating a turkey hen hoping a great big tom will hear and come to check out the new hen on the block and then . . . blam . . . we get to eat turkey!

At least it’s a gorgeous morning! We’ve watched the forecast for this weekend all week, and it really hadn’t sounded that good. However, today dawned clear, not too cold, just a little fog, and no rain, unlike yesterday where it rained a lot. But, I’m sure Richard and Matt just enjoyed some peace and quiet in the cabin yesterday while they awaited the big opening morning!

I’ll report later on his success.

Happy Birthday Jessica!

Jessica was born in Kotzebue, Alaska several years ago this morning! I went into labor late at night, and I remember walking to the hospital in labor as we didn’t have any other means of transportation. It was a lovely night, and I didn’t mind at all! I also remember that you couldn’t look out the windows at the hospital because the accumulated snow had built up around so you couldn’t see through it.

Since my husband had died 4 months previous, I was alone as I labored. Luckily, there wasn’t anyone else in labor at the same time, and the wonderful nurse took her breaks with me just to keep me company. She said she really wasn’t supposed to do that, but she wanted to. I had already had one baby and was pretty good at working through the contractions, so I didn’t really need active labor support, just someone to sit with me!

And, now Jessica is a lovely grown-up with a great husband and three wonderful children of her own. Time sure does fly by doesn’t it?

New Design!

Did you notice the new photo and colors on my weblog? Every once in a while I like to change things up.

I took this photo of an apple blossom in our front yard.

Happy Easter!

Garland, Richard, and I enjoyed the Sunrise Service, breakfast afterwards, and then the Easter Egg Hunt.

Andy told Bryce that it was almost time to hunt Easter Eggs, and Bryce asked, “Will we shoot them?” Richard and I are SO proud! That’s our grandson!

More of the Cutest Grandkids!

The kids all looked at Hank and Petey playing at the same time.

I think this will be a fair award-winner!

Jessica and Laura brought the kids over in their Easter clothes and we took some great photos.

Cactus and the Flag

I took a bunch of photos of flowers and cactus in front of the flag at the hotel.
