- Richard and I drove to Kansas City airport on October 15. I flew to San Jose to work at the MANA Board meetings, and Richard flew to Sacramento to visit his friend there. Here are my travel photos and first day with Maggie.
- On Saturday Maggie drove to me Asilomar for the Board meetings. The first thing I did was walk down to the beach and take these photos!
- On October 21 Richard rented a car and drove from Sacramento to Asilomar! These are the photos from our first walk on the beach on the 22nd.
- The next day Richard and I walked down to the beach when we weren't needed at the MANA conference and enjoyed the kids playing and took these photos.
- On the 24th we stopped by the ocean to photograph the sunset.
- After we finished our duties at the conference on the last day, Richard and I spent a glorious few hours just sitting on the rocks at the Asilomar Beach. Well, I didn't just sit; I also took pictures.
- On Monday Richard and I started the "vacation" part of our trip. We left Maggie's house in Seaside after a lovely breakfast with her and Marie and drove the short distance south to the Point Lobos State Park. Glorious doesn't begin to describe the scenery we saw and shot here.
- We left Point Lobos about 2 pm and drove on down the coast. We stopped at every overlook and took photos!
- We heard there might be jade to be found at Sand Dollar Beach, so we stopped there. We didn't find any jade, but we found lots of cool photos!
- We stayed at San Simeon at the base of the Hearst estate so we could visit the Heast Castle early Tuesday morning. Richard had been there many years ago, and I had never been there. What a glorious place! See the official website for the park here and my photos from our visit here.
- We drove from San Simeon to San Luis Obispo to eat at an Indian food restaurant I found on the internet. I didn't think it was very good, and even Richard agreed it wasn't nearly as good as our Indian food restaurant in Springfield, MO. Then we drove on down to spend the afternoon/night at Pismo Beach just to say we'd been there. We didn't like that beach as much as some of the others we saw, but mostly because of the larger number of people there.
- We left Pismo Beach Wednesday morning and spent the morning at Montana-de-Oro Beach near Morro Bay.
- Then we drove on north to San Simeon and ate lunch along the beach near the pier just enjoying watching and listening to the waves crash against the rocks.
- We thought about where we wanted to spend the afternoon/sunset, and decided on the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park waterfall beach.
- We had to stay the night in Monterey because we couldn't find anything in Big Sur we could afford! From there we looked at the map and decided to circle Monterey Bay to Santa Cruz and check out Wilder Ranch Park.

- I decided to pull all the bird photos out into this page and all the marine mammals to this page.

- To see information such as focal length, exposure time, and aperture, click on the little camera icon in the lower right of the screen.
- In order to return to this home page, click "Home" in the upper left.
- The "View" buttom gives you several different ways to view the photos. Pick your favorite.
- The "Theme" button allows you to change the color of the page.
