Day four, Portland to Winchester Bay
October 11, 2004

We left Bonnie's house early Monday morning in our rented Neon.

Something I miss seeing, deep river valleys through the mountains. This was on the road from Portland to Tillamook.

We loved the land around Tillamook, great for cattle (and Jersey cows!).

Our first view of the ocean (at Neskowin).

This is "D," the shortest river in the world according to "Guinnes Book of World Records," running 1/4 mile from Devil's Lake to the ocean in Lincoln City.
This is the LIVE web cam shot from Lincoln Beach, OR. I've had this on my home page for 2 years, and one of my goals was to find the actual camera!

Here it is with a sea gull keeping it company. Thanks to Richard for spotting it on the hotel roof!

This is a photo I took from near the web cam.

When visiting with Doug and Sue about our trip down the coast, Doug said we shouldn't miss seeing the house where Ken Kesey's movie "Sometimes a Great Notion" was filmed. It took a little driving back and forth and asking directions, but we finally found it.

And it was well worth the time to find it!

Richard bought a kite and we enjoyed some flying time near Newport!
