Neither Richard or I had seen Crater Lake, and so we decided we needed to check it out on the way back to Portland. We were SO glad we did! First, on the way to the Lake, Florence and Don suggested we see the "Natural Bridge" where the Rogue River (near it's headwaters) runs through an old lava tube underground.

The river downstream of the bridge.

Downstream

Looking downstream where the river is below the natural bridge and coming out the downstream end.

This view was south as we were driving around the south-east of Crater Lake to get to our first view of the Lake.

This looks east over the Klamath Valley.

We were both spellbound by our first look at the Lake. The sun was coming over the rim, the water was still as glass, and the reflections were awesome!

We traded photo-taking with another couple.

Richard getting out our lunch. We finished off the smoked salmon with a most excellent view!

This was our last view of Crater Lake.
