The pictorial story of AAL helping us paint our house in the fall of 2001!

First, John replaced rotten siding boards, then we removed the shutters.

Men from the church group helped us trim the shrubs back from the house while John watches.

Here it is all power-washed and ready to paint the next week!

"Many hands make light work" was never more fitting than the first day of painting!!! L-R it's Walter, Doris, Suzanne, Justin, Gene, and Jennifer. Honest, I was painting until I stopped to take the photo!

Here's a longer shot of the front of the house.

Just about done with the South end of the house.

The kids worked on the back, L-R Justin, Samuel and Jennifer.

Here's the North end of the back of the house after the first day of painting.

Here's the South end of the back of the house after the first day of painting.

Here's the end of the house, all done with the first coat.

Here's the front of the house, again, done with the first coat. We will just need to do a "touch up" second coat with the roller, shouldn't take too long.

Then, after our first painting day, it rained for 3 days in a row.

Jennifer and I finally got to paint the back side of the shutters between storms.

Finishing Day!

Walter does the South eaves from the ground up.

John does the North eaves from the roof down.

Here's the Wednesday group!

Jennifer and John finish the back of the house. John's handy because he doesn't need a ladder!

John and Walter put up the shutters. What a difference!

Here's the front with the house with the shutters on.

Here's the very front. What do you think of the red door? We weren't sure, but figured we could re-paint it if we don't like it! Now we are thinking about what else to paint red . . . the garage door needs something, but we are going to think carefully before we start painting! The kids want to paint the window trim in the back red because there aren't shutters there; I think we will do that. And, no, there isn't anything wrong with the color on your monitor or my camera, the "red" isn't strictly red, but has an orange tint to it. We didn't think it would look quite like that, but like it!

Here's a "before" picture taken about June 2000 when we had first bought the house.

Here's the "after" picture taken October 18, 2001.
