Richard, Garland and I went canoeing on the Little Niangua River Sunday-Tuesday.

We camped near Burnt Mill Spring Sunday night.

It poured rain Sunday night and was still raining some Monday morning. Richard fixed this shelter to boil coffee on his little kerosene “stove.” There wasn’t enough dry wood to build a real campfire to have a hot breakfast though.

Dinner Monday night was pork chops and beans. Talk about GREAT!!!

At first glance I thought I was seeing northern lights Monday evening as the sun was setting. Of course, we don’t see them in Missouri in the summer. The sky was filled with some very odd cloud formations and colors. Come to find out, there was a lot of severe weather and tornado warnings to the south of us. Luckily, we didn’t know anything about it and also had no severe weather ourselves!

Here’s the crew Tuesday morning after a wonderful, hot breakfast!
