Richard and I left home Sunday afternoon, drove to Kansas City, MO, spent the night, got up at 4:30 am, flew out of KCI at 6:30 am, and arrived in Charleston, WV at noon on Monday. That started our wonderful speaking tour of four West Virginia counties!
Monday night we spoke in Union, WV in Monroe County which is one of the farthest south counties in WV. We found out that Monroe County is the birthplace of 4-H!!! Both Richard and I were in 4-H as kids and have done a lot with 4-H since, how cool to learn about it’s beginnings.
Last night Richard spoke in Ronceverte (near Lewisburg), and tonight we are supposed to speak in Summersville. I say “supposed to” because, when we woke this morning there was a quite a “school closing” list on the TV. I peaked outside and saw about 2-3 inches of snow on the ground and more coming by the minute!
Our final night of speaking will be in Ripley, which is north of Charleston.
I have been slow at writing these because I can’t get the hotel wireless to work on my laptop which has all the photos and programs and all that I that I use on web pages! However, Richard’s computer works just fine, so I’m able to do some internet stuff (such as update this page).
When we get back I will add some photos!
Last night John, the local extension agent and our “driver” said, after the meeting, that several of the landowners told him this was one of the best dinner meetings they had attended! Richard has been doing a great job!
