My flight from San Francisco to Kansas City was uneventful except for a slight detour we took to fly north around a big line of thunderstorms running N-S down about the middle of Kansas and it looked like through into Oklahoma also. I talked with Richard when I was waiting for my baggage, and he said the severe storms they were forecasting looked like they would be later in the evening, I should have time to get home before they hit. Then, when I was just over an hour from home (it’s a three hour drive from KC home), Jessica called and said some severe weather was building, and there was a tornado warning along with it! I was close enough to hear our best “storm” radio station, and they were tracking the storm which was going to cross over my path, the question was, would I be able to beat it? So, as I’m driving due south, I’m watching the strong lightening off to my right (west), listening to the radio, and talking to Richard who was watching the radar and suggesting I punch the cruise control a little faster. Bottom line, I made it home and the storm crossed the highway I was driving down about 15 minutes after I passed! I didn’t even have to drive through any rain!
It was a wonderful trip, I got lots of great ocean photos and was able to visit with my good friends on the MANA Board. It’s nice to be home though!
