Super Full Moon!

Last night was a “Super Full Moon” meaning, not only was the moon full, but it was also at Perigee, meaning the point in the year when the moon is the closest to the earth! Read more about it here. So, I had been looking forward to taking photos, except then we had bad thunderstorms all evening! When we were going to bed I saw that the clouds were clearing and we could see the moon behind them (it looked GREAT!!), but I was just too tired to try and take photos. Then, this morning when I got up I didn’t think anything about it until I got a message from my niece, Beth, about how she hoped I was photoing the moon! I started to write her back saying I did not, when I wondered if it had set yet? I looked out the front window, and it was just above the horizon! I got my gear and ran outside and got a couple of shots just as it was setting! Then I wondered if I walked down the lane if I could see it better? So I did, and I could, and I took photos!!

My first shot. I moved away from those limbs and got this shot of the almost set moon and a little bird.
It was much higher in the sky when I walked down the lane away from the hill to the west of our house. Here’s the moon without any zoom.
Look carefully in the upper right! There’s my little bird friend again!
And, when I moved to get the moon setting between these two trees, look at the lower left part of the moon . . . yep, my little bird friend again!
